How to watch on smartphone  [go to top]

  1. Our mini-movies only play on mobile devices that support streaming media (most smartphones and web-enabled mobile devices).
  2. Log in and go to the landmark destination (i.e. Lincoln Memorial) and click the 'Tour' link. The Tour page has links for FAST and SLOW for the Video (mini-movies) and Audio (narratives only) separately for the landmark selected.
  3. When you click on 'Tour' for a landmark, when you are NOT buying credits, you will immediately go to the Tour page with the FAST / SLOW links for the landmark selected. If you have not bought credits yet and click on 'Tour' see - Buying Credits to Watch Mini-Movies below.
  4. If you have a fast, reliable Internet connection (3G or higher), choose Fast. If you are uncertain, or the FAST video doesn't stream without stalling, choose Slow (EDGE, 2G or slower).

Note: Depending on your connection, there may be a delay of up to 60 seconds before a video starts.

Note: If your smartphone service doesn't include unlimited data streaming, it may be less expensive to play audio narratives instead of mini-movies.
  5. When the mini-movie or audio narrative is finished close the media player. This takes you back to VodoModo where you can choose a new tour or click What's Nearby to see other things of interest in the area.

How to get to m.vodomodo.com on your smartphone  [go to top]

  1. Open an Internet browser on your smartphone or other web-enabled mobile device and enter http://m.vodomodo.com (no www) as the web address.
How to open Internet and enter web address on: Blackberry | Windows Mobile Device
  2. Log in and go to the VodoModo home page.
  3. Select a city and an area in that city.

Test your mobile device  [go to top]

  1. After you select an area, you should click 'Free Tour' to test and ensure your smartphone or other web-enabled mobile device can stream (play) our mini-movies.
  2. First click Video - Slow. The test will open a media player. Wait up to 60 seconds. If the video loads, watch it or go back and try Video - Fast. If neither works, then your phone either does not support streaming media or you in an area with limited connectivity. If the test works, click Back (to Area) and then "Tour" to buy credits.
    1. Slow means slower connection and lower quality. Fast means faster connection (i.e. 3G) and higher quality.
  3. After testing (clicking Free Tour), you will know if your phone or mobile device can play streaming video or audio. This ensures that when you buy a tour to watch or listen, your device or phone will be able to play it.
  4. By clicking Tour, you are certifying that you tested your device and that it can play our mini-movie content, whether video and/or audio, and that you understand that your connection speed may fluctuate, which may affect the quality of the video and/or audio.

What is a view? (credits & usage)  [go to top]

  1. Again, it is always best to test your smartphone. Starting a mini-movie or audio narrative then stopping it, exiting the media player and clicking a different link on Tour page for the same tour is considered an additional view.
  2. Three credits gives you the ability to play the mini-movie or audio narrative on single landmark site (i.e. Lincoln Memorial) up to 6 times (6 views) — a maximum of three times each on your desktop and smartphone. So 3 credits gets you 3 views on your desktop PC and 3 separate views on your smartphone for the same landmark site — whether those views are a mini-movie or an audio narrative. A VIEW occurs whenever you start to watch a mini-movie or listen to an audio narrative.

Landmark site mini-movies can be viewed (watched) at VodoModo.com on your desktop PC and on your smartphone.
Landmark site audio narratives can only be viewed (listened to) on your smartphone.
  3. Starting a mini-movie or audio narrative occurs when you click on a link (i.e. "Fast", "Slow, "watch...Tour", etc.) to open the mini-movie or audio narrative in a media player.

If you click "Watch Lincoln Memorial Tour" to watch the Lincoln Memorial mini-movie at VodoModo.com on your desktop PC that counts as one View on your desktop PC.

If you then click "Fast" to watch the Lincoln Memorial mini-movie on your smartphone that counts as a separate View on your smartphone.

If you stop the mini-movie tour of the Lincoln Memorial on your smartphone and then click "Fast" to listen to the audio narrative of the Lincoln Memorial tour on your smartphone, this click is a second View on your smartphone.

If 3 days later, you click "Fast" to watch the Lincoln Memorial mini-movie on your smartphone again that counts as the third View on your smartphone. To watch the Lincoln Memoral mini-movie on your smartphone again, for a fourth time, you would have to purchase more credits.

If you start a movie or audio narrative, stop it, exit the media player and start again, you use a new credit.
